John Novak worked for the Du Mont Television Network. He worked at their New York City base of
operations, WABD. While Du Mont went out of business in 1956, their story is fascinating.
Charlton Prince was one of the "38 Eager Beavers" who invested in Veteran's Broadcasting. They started a 5,000 watt
station (WVET) in 1947. The company eventually owned two radio stations and one television station before selling the
operation to Rust Craft Broadcasting. The stations have gone through several owners since, but their
history is available online.
